ISU 2010 Rule Changes for Speed Skating

This weekend is the 2010 Calgary Olympic Oval Invitational. Athletes from all over Canada as well as many international competitors from Europe and Asia descend on the Oval to compete in this annual event.

Anthropometric ("Anthro") Analysis Results

Got my anthro results back yesterday, here are the juicy details:

Weight: 195.6lbs (88.9 kg)
Height:  6'1" (185.9 cm)
% Body Fat: 10.0%
Fat Free Mass: 176.0lbs (80.0 kg)
Total Fat Mass: 19.6lbs (8.9kg)
Fat Free Volume (Thighs): 11,800ml

2nd Tempo: Making Improvements

Been a busy few days since my last post. Jacynthe was in town over the weekend, I moved and then my brother Steve, his wife Sarah and my nephew Stuart came out and were able to check out the Oval and watch me skate. Highlight of their trip was definitely the discovery of a matching hat for Stu!

Jacynthe Hits The Oval

Every Monday at the Olympic Oval they host the Calgary Co-Op Public Skate for the Community. The Oval is open to the public for FREE just bring a donation for the Calgary Food Bank.

With Jacynthe heading back to Vancouver tomorrow we thought it would be good to get out and try some speed skating.

Corner Setup

Had a great week on the ice this week. Had a solid session each day. The week on ice went a little something like this:

Monday: 2 x 3 lap warmup, 16 x 400m on 400m off
Tuesday: 2 x 3 lap warmup, 2 accels, 16 x 400m on 400m off, 3 lap cool down
Wednesday: 2 x 3 lap warmup, 3 accels, 12 x 600m on 600m off
Thursday: 12 x 300m accels focusing on corner entry and corner exit
